Locke Lord Announces Support of ABA Resolution 113

November 28, 2016 – Locke Lord LLP is pleased to announce the Firm’s support of the recently adopted Resolution 113 by the American Bar Association (ABA). Immediate Past President of the ABA and Locke Lord Morristown Partner Paulette Brown was influential in the creation of the resolution which aims to promote diversity within law firms and urges clients to expand opportunities for diverse lawyers. 

Brown’s role in the passage of Resolution 113 is largely evident in her formation of the ABA’s Diversity and Inclusion 360 Commission and her overall vision for improving the economic success of diverse attorneys. In the past year, the 360 Commission and its working groups have put into effect a number of policies. Brown’s vision to find a way to economically empower diverse attorneys and dismantle barriers to inclusion and diversity was executed by the Economic Case Working Group of the 360 Commission. This working group put forth the resolution that was ultimately adopted without opposition by the ABA House of Delegates. In addition to being the creator of the 360 Commission and the Economic Case Working Group, Brown worked diligently to ensure its passage and implementation.

Locke Lord has also committed to the backing of Resolution 113 by completing the ABA’s Model Diversity Survey. The survey can be completed by law firms of all sizes and tracks standardized data on diverse lawyers, intended to be shared with general counsel. More than 60 general counsel within the past 8 weeks have pledged their support to both Resolution 113 and the Model Diversity Survey.
